Inspo from the song producer man - Lyn Lapid

The 17 year old  bowed and a loud cheer rose up from the crowd. She stood up and smiled, waving and walking off of the stage. This girl was an amazing dancer and had won many awards for her talent. She walked down the corridor, waving and congratulating the backstage crew. She smiled and grabbed her bag. When she walked out a man was waiting to see her. This man was the owner of one of the bigges money making businesses in the world.  And he wanted her to succeed in the world. She agreed to his contract and was flown out to LA. but the girl was to native to see he was only in it for the money. She went to a prestigious dance school and was worked to refine her skill. Life went on happily for a while (2 years) before she realised something was wrong. The contract said for 6 years she would work with the business man, but she didn’t want to any more. When she confronted him, he merrily laughed and said “ sweetie you gotta listen well it only matters how you sell”.

15 minute writing 2

 I woke up to the shouting of nurses. Oh great what had happened now? I blink dully and look around. A kind nurse with the name Darcy printed on her little card rushed around my bed in a flurry of shouts, medical supply's and white uniform. I stared up at the celling in annoyance. It was a dull grey. Huh thats weird. Last time I was here it was a light blue. Hmm maybe i was in a different ward. I sat up and looked around at my surroundings. It was all different shades of grey and white. The curtains were white and the bed was white and grey. No color to keep things sterile I guessed. The nurse Darcy had left at this point, tittering in her high pitched voice that I wasn't to have any visitors. I scolded at this and lay down to sleep. It wasn't long before i was in La-La land. I dreamt of a kid who was in an accident and lost their sight. I was so real that i woke up with tears in my eyes. I had to know it it was true. I called for the nurse and stared up at the now dull grey ceiling. She arrived and immediately asked if something was wrong. I said no and proceed to ask her about my dream. “ oh honey I'm sorry but it was real”, she said sadly. I suddenly looked at her and froze. Her once brown hair was a dark grey and her skin was almost white. “ Sweetie that was you. You lost your vision in an accident the other day. You have been diagnosed with monochromacy and will never see true color again. It has no cure but you can use color blind glasses to help you. But you will have it for the rest of your life”. 

Monochromacy - comes from the Greek words of mono ( one ) and chromo ( color) 

15 minute writing challenge

 A car beeped its horn and i woke with a start. The hum of the radio and the other cars was oddly comforting. My best friend was humming along to whatever song was stuck in his head. I yawned and stretched in the cramped space. “ oh your awake! We're just about the airport so we will be there soon. Then you can sleep on the plane”, he said smiling at me. “ thank god!” I sighed. “ I haven't been sleeping and its annoying to sleep at 8 am and wake up at 4 pm”. He laughed. “ girl you gotta fix your sleep schedule”. I laughed and rest my head on the window, watching the scenery go past. It was pretty. And calming. We pulled up at the airport and unloaded our bags from the back and the taxi drove away. We walked inside and began searching for out other friends. Now all of my friends were guys and the one I was with ( Zach ) was gay. Zach had never met the guys and I wanted to see what his reaction was. I pulled out my phone and pulled up the group chat with the text on where to meet up. Under the sign for the gate we were going through. Gate 14. And true to their word there they were. Jay sitting down on the floor, nick and Luke were chasing after each other and getting a ton of dirty looks from others. William was quietly reading something on his phone and Karl was taking photos probably for memorabilia. I ran up to them and gave them all hugs. I came back for Zane and dragged him over. “ guys this is Zach. Zach this is Luke, William, Karl, nick and Jay”, i said pointing to each person in turn. Zach smiled and waved. Soon enough we were boarding the plane to Huston, Texas. Why? I dont know. We were actually going to Florida but wanted to pick up Michel in Texas then drive over. When the flight was over i stood up and stretched after another long nap. The guys were quietly talking and i was glad to see Zach was fitting in nicely. In the car it was absolute chaos. The music was loud, William was eating and driving. Karl was hitting nick and I was hogging the aux cord from Luke. Lots of photos were taken and lots of memories were made that trip.

funky writing//Kate and Me

The cat went into the void of endless sadness. He didn’t want to but the dog said “ there will be endless amounts of fish and catnip”. And he was sold. He leapt into the abyss and was never seen again. The dog chuckled and walked away. “ now mum and dad will love me more”, he thought as he went back inside his doggy door. But boom suddenly the cat came flying out of a magic portal with a magic carpet, a mansion, a limo, and a girlfriend (which the dog would never get). The dog was outraged and sad (he’d never get a girlfriend. Never have never will) “Boohoohoo” the dog screamed as he looked upon all the little kittens and the mansion and the limo with lots of little car seats for all the little kittens. The dog had never had a girlfriend let alone puppies.

 This all happened because of a disastrous rainy day in 1869… It was a cloudy and wet day. Very bad weather if you ask me. Two humans were walking along the pavement, dodging puddles and other humans. But these humans were special. They came from 2021. Yes, they were time travelers here to destroy the world with COVID-19 because they hated their great grandmother-in-law on their uncle’s girlfriend’s aunt’s side. The woman pulled out a vial of the deadly disease and dumped it into a giant river. A little pup was thirsty and went to the river bed to inhale liquid. But of course, there was a virus in the river and suddenly the said pup became immortal, could talk to cats, and was able to open pocket dimensions. But on the downside, he was so ugly that only the time travelers ever adopted him (spiderman style).

My pinwheel

 

We have been learning about wind and this week we made pinwheels. Pinwheels are a smaller version of a wind turbine. This makes it easier to understand a wind turbine.

Pin wheels are like wind turbines in almost every way. The blades are pushed by the wind, it stands on its own and it is the same design. The only differences are that its made of paper and is alot smaller.

Have you ever been to see a wind turbine farm? If so where?

What is Wind?

                                                       What is wind? 

Wind is the movement of air flows. Some are hot whilst others are cold. A study by the university of British Columbia found that a single urban tree can help moderate wind speeds and the cost of heating lowers.

Wind pressures are created by the high temperature and low temperature in the air. A hot air balloon rises when you pump hot air into the balloon part and lowers when you stop. This is because the hot air rises and cold air falls. 

Wind is made by the uneven heating of the earth. It is created by the uneven heating of the earth's surface by the sun. Since the earth's surface is made of various land and water formations, it absorbs the sun's radiation unevenly. Two factors are necessary to create wind: speed and direction.

There are 5 different types of wind zones. Polar easterlies,westerlies,horse latitudes, trade winds and doldrums. Polar easterlies are dry, cold and sharp wind streams that come from the north/south pole. Westerlies are winds blown from the west at mid altitude. They are fed by the polar easterlies. They also feed horse latitudes which squish them from both sides. Horse latitude is a narrow zone of hot, dry wind. They are found between westerlies and trade winds. Trade winds are strong prevailing winds that blow from the east across the tropics. This type of wind is very predictable. Doldrums are very weak streams of wind and the weather is usually calm, like a breeze on a hot summer's day. 

Wind results: wind is a moving stream of air. There are five different types of wind. It is made by uneven heating of the earth. It is 78% nitrogen( because 78% of air is nitrogen), 21% oxygen and 1-4% water vapour. There is still so much for me to learn about wind.

I went to Paris and met with the queen to have tea and talk about politics and Americas Covid 19 problem.

No wait… I lied again!

I went to Kapiti island and killed a kiwi. No thats wrong. Lets start again shall we??

I went to Kapiti Island and drove a quad bike and- no wait WAIT wait. Thats also wrong. Lets do this right from the start for once in my and your life.

I went to Kapiti Island, rode on a quad bike, and got soaking wet. I also watched TV, cut a hole in a water tank and almost died. I climbed into said water tank and dug in an ancient Maori trash pit. I sleept, stood on a ladder for an hour and a half, went on a boat and saw a mermaid!

That was my weekend( if you dont like it well i frankly don’t give a danm)

HI! My names Leo. i go to otaki college, im 11 and a year 8. I love to listen to music and play minecraft! My fave colours are red, blue, yellow lime green black and white. My favourite subjects at school are writing, art, PE, drama and digital media. My fave sports are skiing, snowboarding, biking,running and soccer. This is my 2021 blog. I hope you like it.

Athletics Day

   Athletics Day...                    

Waiting. The most boring thing in existence. No really, it is. I was standing in lane 5 waiting. It was like a clock was in my head. Tick Tock. It was like I forgot everything around me. My friends, the crowd screaming and my compassion. Yeah you know the clock in my head? Well it was getting kinda annoying. Tick Tock. The lady holding the gun said something I didn't hear. Something about the finish line? Oh well. A pounding in my ears soon accompanied the annoying clock. Tick Tock. A girl beside me tensed. Then BANG! It was like a window shattering and all the noise rushed back to me in the second it took to register what had happened. We all bolted like rabbits. Some faster than others. I started to sprint and the finish line drew closer and closer. Then it was all over. My legs burned and an adrenaline rush overtook me. Suddenly it was like some weird thing had consumed my vision. Like I was looking at everything through a tunnel. For a second I forgot what I was doing and who was saying my name. “ Come on Leo, It's Georgia's race soon”. Kate said. “ Coming” I mumbled as she dragged me to the start line by my wrist. The gun went off again and I jumped. Kate giggled at my shock and tugged me along. The gun went off again and all you could see were 7 colourful blurs. Two red, one yellow, three blue and one green. We all started jumping and screaming for Georgia. At the end of the track we found her lying flat on the ground with a hand covering her face. “ It hurts. Help me up” she said from behind her hand. We laughed and dragged her up. Then we ran off giggling like crazy. “ HEY. not fair guys not fair!” she pouted “ You didn't just race, and i'm tired”. “ suck it up buttercup” we shouted and I grinned. Today was the best day of the year for sure
